The mixture, known as “mocha tea” is applied to wet slip on earthenware clay, then fired in the kiln.
This ancient technique has been revived at my pottery overlooking a bend in the river Severn, and I use oxides mined nearby in the Forest of Dean.
The mugs, jugs and plates are then finished with hand modelled leaves, nuts and berries, reflecting the natural environment of the forest.
Each piece of pottery is unique, as no two pieces of mochaware can be exactly the same.
